They Just Don't Get It

Fuck EA Sports

I was 16 years old when I got my first real taste for hockey. Sure I had watched games before then, but I wasn't really all that interested until the 94 playoff run for the Vancouver Canucks. During that run, the whole of Vancouver got swept up in the commotion, myself included. It was during those playoffs that hockey got into my blood. The years that followed would see me home on game nights watching or listening to the game. Don Cherry, Jim Robson, Jim Hughson, Tom Larscheid, and Ron Maclean became my instructors, teaching me all there is to know about this newfound fascination. My heroes shifted from the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jean-Claude Van Damme to that of Trevor Linden, and Pavel Bure. And at the start of the 94/95 season I picked up my first hockey videogame, "NHL 95". Read More...

PSP Go and PS3 Slim

This one’s a bit of a double whammy for Sony. First off, the PSP go. Pricing has been released for the tiny handheld in Australia and the news is not good. $450 for the PSP Go. No that is not a typo, $450. I think that’s disgusting. Australians pay through the nose for gaming, but this latest round of price gouging is ridiculous... Read More...

I just don't get it

When I started this blog I had no real direction for it. Or at least the direction I had for it was rather vague and redundant. “The gaming world from the eyes of me” I thought. But really, who gives a shit about how I see the gaming world? Who would really care to read one of my reviews? There are currently a stupid amount of sites that already do just that. Reviews, previews, news...you name it, there are thousands of sites that already cater to all those needs. There’s no point for me to try and imitate those sites because I can’t rival their access and resources... Read More...

Holiday Rush

What was my favourite xmas present of all time? Well my new puppy ranks right up there. But honestly I would probably have to go with the SEGA Master System my brother and I got when I was roughly 8 or 9. That xmas gift changed my life. Before that fateful xmas morning I had little interest in videogaming. We hadn’t owned any consoles before the Master System(unless you include the TRS 80). But after hours of Space Harrier, Ghostbusters, and Quartet, I became a crack gamer. Or well gaming became my crack...depends on your perspective. But good or bad, it’s undeniable that my interest in gaming lead to my current vocation. And my interest was initially sparked by that amazing gift... Read More...

You Don't Have To Go Home, But You Can't Stay Here

Ok, Home launched last week, and I just don’t get it. Do we really need another shopping sim? I mean, isn’t Sony a little late to the party here with this one? Before I go any further, I’ll come clean and admit that I do not have a PS3, nor have I had a chance to actually try Home. But I honestly don’t want to. My beef with Home isn’t with how well or poorly it is put together. It’s with the actual concept of Home and why I don’t think it works in todays gaming landscape... Read More...

Conformity damnit!

Ok, well this is my biggest of my pet peeves. So I figured, why not start off my “They Just Don’t Get It” segment with a bang. So here goes...DRM(Digital Rights Management). Unless you have been living under a rock, you are probably already very familiar with DRM. And more than likely infuriated by it as much as I am. But I’m going to explain just why it annoys me so...
