During that run, the whole of Vancouver got swept up in the commotion, myself included. It was during those playoffs that hockey got into my blood. The years that followed would see me home on game nights watching or listening to the game. Don Cherry, Jim Robson, Jim Hughson, Tom Larscheid, and Ron Maclean became my instructors, teaching me all there is to know about this newfound fascination. My heroes shifted from the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jean-Claude Van Damme to that of Trevor Linden, and Pavel Bure. And "time" is your average crappy photoshop user playing with the contrast slider. Time likes to crank the contrast up on your photos with each passing year. All the darker gloomier elements of your photos slowly fade into blackness at the bottom end of the spectrum. At the same time, the lighter happier elements become brighter. Meanwhile, all the finer detail in your photos gets lost, and all you're left with is a polarised view of your memories. Things you liked when you were a kid, you now remember loving. And things you didn't like or were indifferent towards, you now remember hating. I tried to compensate for this when compiling my list, but it's damn hard when all you can see is blinding white when remembering games long past. Modern games that have made this list must be truly special by that logic. Either they have shown me something completely new, or are refinement approaching perfection. Mass Effect falls into the latter.

Top 10 Games - #8

If you know me, you’ll know that my favourite gift of all time(next to my puppy) was the Sega Master System that my mother gave to my brother and I when we were kids. They have this sale going on, and I figured there might be a game in there that might pique my interest in the poor little sony handheld. And there it was...God Of War: Chains Of Olympus. I’m an Xbox fan. My reasoning behind my console preference is that I mostly am not interested in the different game franchises on the playstation consoles. God Of War is the exception. I’ve secretly coveted the awesomeness of this franchise, but I’m seriously not going to buy a PS2 or PS3 just to play one game. And when Chains Of Olympus first came out on the PSP, I had a hard time justifying the $60 purchase price in order to play a portable game. But there it was....for $17.83 Australian dollars used. I could not pass this up...

Idiotic mission objectives

This one annoys me to no end. We’ve all witnessed it in games. It’s the really dumb mission objectives. There’s a couple of different flavours I’m going to talk about today. The mission objectives that leave you scratching your head as to why on earth you’ve been asked to do such a menial task(read: fetch missions). And the objectives that get completely invalidated once you finish a level...

Excellent trend in sports games

3 words for you. Be A Pro. The “Be A Pro” mode that you find in the most recent EA sports games is something I’ve been desperately wanting for years now. I’m a big hockey fan. A Canucks fan to be more specific. And I can tell you that since we started seeing 3D hockey games, I’ve desperately wanted to play a sort of role playing game revolving around myself as a virtual hockey player...

Really damned important!

There’s been some important games in the past.
